New Mexico has the ingredients to be hydrogen superpower
While the federal infrastructure package will facilitate the growth of the hydrogen economy, providing $8 billion over four years to create regional decarbonized hydrogen production and consumption hubs, more is needed in our state to take advantage of this opportunity. The race is already on to compete with Texas, California, and Appalachia to host hydrogen hubs.
Daimler Truck North America, NextEra Energy Resources and BlackRock Renewable Power Announce Plans To Accelerate Public Charging Infrastructure For Commercial Vehicles Across The U.S.
Daimler Truck North America LLC (DTNA), NextEra Energy Resources, LLC and BlackRock Renewable Power (BlackRock) today announced that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to lay the foundation for a proposed joint venture (JV) to design, develop, install and operate a nationwide, high-performance charging network for medium- and heavy-duty battery electric and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles in the U.S. With the goal of accelerating the rollout of carbon-neutral freight transportation, start of operations for the future JV is planned for 2022. Initial funding is expected to be comprised of approximately $650 million divided equally among the three parties.

ITM Power and Linde: 24MW Sale to Yara
The hydrogen required for ammonia production is currently produced from SMR. Yara intends to start replacing this grey hydrogen with green hydrogen produced from renewable energy and electrolysis. The 24MW system supplying 10,368 kg/day of hydrogen will account for approximately 5% of the plant's consumption and serve as a feasibility study for future upscaling.

SoCalGas Among First Utilities in the Nation to Transition its Over-the-Road Fleet with Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles
The company plans to expand its fleet of HFCEVs to 50 next month, making SoCalGas among the first utilities in the nation to start transitioning to hydrogen. These HFCEVs are an important step for SoCalGas in decarbonizing its fleet and supports the company's Net Zero 2045 climate goal, which includes replacing 50% of its over-the-road fleet with clean fuel vehicles by 2025 and operating a 100% zero-emission fleet by 2035.

Business briefing: British hydrogen car maker reveals new roadmap
Hydrogen revolution is just getting started
“BayoTech is deploying a network of regional hydrogen hubs at strategic sites throughout the US and UK. BayoTech has identified key locations throughout the US where we can meet the growing demand for reliable, affordable supply for hydrogen,” Vargas said.
“These locations include our home state of New Mexico, as well as other key hot-spots including sites in Oklahoma, California and Utah. Initially, we see a real opportunity to be at the centre of a regional network of hydrogen hubs accelerating clean energy adoption throughout the Western US.”
SunLine Transit Agency, city of Indio commemorate submerged liquid hydrogen pump installation
SunLine celebrates new mobile hydrogen refueling station in Indio
SunLine's board of directors first voted to move toward a 100% alternative fuel fleet back in 1992, and the agency started by using natural gas. SunLine is now focused on converting its entire fleet to hydrogen fuel cell technology, which operates better at extreme temperatures than battery-powered buses, and can drive up to 350 miles on one charge.

GM Plans to Broaden Electrification, Expanding Fuel Cells Beyond Vehicles
GM is planning multiple HYDROTEC-based power generators, all powered by GM’s Generation 2 HYDROTEC fuel cell power cubes, including:
A Mobile Power Generator (MPG) to provide fast-charge capability for EVs without installing permanent charge points
The EMPOWER rapid charger to help retail fuel stations add affordable DC fast charging without expanding the grid
A palletized MPG to quietly and efficiently power military camps and installations

PACCAR Partners with U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) on SuperTruck 3 Program
PACCAR is launching its SuperTruck 3 program to continue the development of its Class 8 Kenworth and Peterbilt battery electric and fuel cell vehicles, along with its vehicle charging stations. SuperTruck 3 is a DOE initiative to develop state of the art zero emissions medium- and heavy-duty trucks. PACCAR received a $33 million matching grant for the highly selective program. “The SuperTruck 3 award underscores PACCAR’s industry leadership in zero emissions commercial vehicles,” said John Rich, PACCAR chief technology officer.

Kenworth rolls out battery-electric, fuel-cell-electric trucks for demonstrations
Adams said a hydrogen fueling network will need to be established, but he believes private corporations will be eager to develop one, due to the fast fueling times associated with hydrogen and increased opportunity to profit based on greater throughput than electric charging.
Kenworth’s current hydrogen trucks produce 560 hp, house a 12-kW battery pack to aid in propulsion and take pressure off the fuel cells, and hold up to 60 kg of hydrogen. Trucknews.com will have a first-hand report on the driving experiences of both battery-electric and hydrogen-fuel-cell-electric trucks in the days ahead.
Clean energy Coast Futura rail demo met with excitement, hope for the future
Spanning two weekends — one each in Watsonville and Santa Cruz — the clean-energy, all-electric light rail vehicle gave the community a tangible example of what car-free travel could be like in the region.
More than 2,000 people took rides on the Coast Futura, including families, people with limited mobility and local elected officials. The streetcar demonstration was produced with support from a collaboration that included about 120 local volunteers, Roaring Camp Railroads and TIG/m, which manufactures the streetcar.
AC Transit Releases Second Iteration of Zero Emission Transit Bus Technology Analysis
AC Transit announces the release of the second version of our Zero Emission Transit Bus Technology Analysis (ZETBTA) study. Our current report tracks greenhouse gas emissions, cost per mile, fleet availability and other intelligent data spanning January through June 2021.
The ZETBTA study’s data is reliable because it is captured from a control fleet using the same 25 buses, then reinforced through academic evaluation by scientists at Stanford University’s Precourt Institute for Energy.
The ZETBTA is a robust side-by-side evaluation of the predominant bus technologies in use at transit agencies worldwide: fuel cell electric bus (FCEB), battery electric bus (BEB), diesel hybrid, and conventional diesel bus propulsion systems.
